GOOGLE ANALYTICS 4 MIGRATION
MetricsEdge can help configure GA4 for your business, ensure a seamless transition, and train your teams on how to make the most of Google’s new platform.

MIGRATING FROM UNIVERSAL ANALYTICS
Universal Analytics will stop collecting data on July 1, 2023, which means that organizations that want to continue to use Google Analytics need to migrate to Google Analytics 4 (GA4) before June of 2023. In fact, we strongly recommend that you migrate ASAP so you can compare your current UA data against the new GA4 data to make sure that your new setup is reporting accurately, and that you’re comfortable at the time of transition.

UNIVERSAL ANALYTICS VS. GA4
Google Analytics 4 builds off the offerings of Universal Analytics, but is built differently to align with modern needs in reporting and privacy.
EVENT
BASED
Universal Analytics is session-based, while GA4 is event–based. This comes from the premise that page views aren’t the sole important metric.
CROSS DEVICE TRACKING
UA was built around desktop web traffic, while GA4 gives businesses visibility into the customer journeys across all of their websites and mobile apps.
MACHINE LEARNING
UA data relies heavily on cookies. GA 4 does not.
PRIVACY FRIENDLY
